When to Replace Your Grips

Grips are consumables. Even premium grips degrade with use, UV exposure, sweat, and friction. Playing with worn grips forces you to grip tighter, which reduces control and increases fatigue. USGA Guidelines are every 40 to 50 rounds

General Replacement Guidelines:

Frequent golfers (2–3+ rounds/week): Every 6–12 months

Moderate golfers (1 round/week): Every 12–18 months

Occasional golfers: Every 18–24 months

Signs It’s Time to Replace:

Loss of tackiness or a slick, shiny surface

Visible cracks, hardening, or glazing

Noticeable grip rotation or slipping in your hands

Inconsistent feel between clubs

You’re gripping tighter than usual to maintain control

Performance Impact:

Worn
grips reduce clubface control, consistency, and confidence. Fresh grips restore feedback, traction, and proper hand pressure—often producing immediate performance improvements without changing your swing.
